Noted as a painter and engraver, Bonifacio first worked as a graphic designer and jazz musician in Bilboa. He turned to painting in 1968, the year he joined the Galeria Juana Mordo. His work was featured in the exhibition "The Plot of Basque Art" which opened in Bilboa in 1980 and traveled to Germany, Italy, Denmark, Norway and Switzerland. In 1989 he designed the windows for the aspe of the cathedral in his hometown, Cuenca. Bonifacio distributes his biomorphic and mechanical forms throught his canvas and his work has been compared to that of Alechinsky, De Koning and Roberto Matta. His work is included in the collections, among others of The Museum of Abstract Art, Cuenca; The Museo de Bellas Artes de Bilboa; Museo Arte Moderno de LAs Palmas de Gran Cannaria and The British Museum.
