Sonia Getchoff
Born: Philadelphia, 1926
A member of the California School of Abstract Expressionism, Sonia Getchoff is known for her abstract landscapes, and figural and non-objective work. She taught at the California School of Fine Arts and at New York University. She exhibited at the Brussels World's Fair (1958); The Carnegie International; The Paris Biennale (1959) , the Sao Paulo Biennale and elsewhere. In "Tropics" Gechtoff transforms the dynamic flow of energy to form, color and movement, richly evoking the tropics.
